AllowanceKit does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your family's financial information never leaves your family's devices and iCloud.
AllowanceKit stores the information you enter — children's names, allowance amounts, bucket balances, and transaction history. This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework and synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit.
We do not operate any servers. We do not have access to your iCloud account. Your data flows exclusively between your devices and Apple's iCloud infrastructure, which is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

This website (allowancekit.app) does not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party services that process visitor data. Fonts are self-hosted — no requests are made to Google or any other external service when you visit this site. We do not log or track your visits. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may collect basic server logs as part of standard web hosting. See GitHub's Privacy Statement for details.
No. We cannot share what we do not have. No data is shared with advertisers, data brokers, partners, or any other third party.
AllowanceKit syncs data across your devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. All data stays within your personal iCloud account. We have no visibility into or control over your data.
If you choose to use Family Sharing, you can invite specific people — the other parent, or a child's own Apple ID — to see a child's allowance data. Sharing uses Apple's built-in CloudKit sharing: the data remains stored in your iCloud account, invited people access it through theirs, and only the people you explicitly invite can join. You can stop sharing or remove a person at any time, which removes their access. Nothing about sharing passes through us — it is Apple infrastructure end to end.
For a child's device signed into your own Apple ID, parents can instead generate an invite code which locks that device to the child's read-only view.
Yes, anytime. In the app's Settings you can export your family's full transaction history as a CSV spreadsheet, or save a complete backup of your data as a JSON file. Both files are created entirely on your device and saved wherever you choose using Apple's Files interface — nothing is uploaded to us or anyone else. Exports never include your parent PIN or child passcodes. Exporting is free on every plan, because your family's data belongs to you.
AllowanceKit is designed for use by families with children. Because we collect no data whatsoever, there are no special considerations for children's data under COPPA, GDPR, or any other privacy regulation. The app does not require account creation, email addresses, or any personal information beyond what parents choose to enter locally.
Your data is protected by Apple's device encryption and iCloud security. Passcodes set within the app (parent PIN, child codes) are stored in the device's secure Keychain and are never transmitted.
If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Given that our approach is to collect no data, we do not anticipate significant changes.
